In ‘normal’ years the senior thesis show provided the opportunity to share as a class our most current and representative work concluding with a celebratory event for students, their family, and faculty signaling graduation. Who knew of the demands that would be placed on Chengjin Lyu and Hauiyu Zhang when they volunteered for the role(s) of curator’s early last fall- a challenging enough responsibility even in the best of times. In my exchanges with the class over the last month I have suggested that the specificity of our work in photography and video will acquire a historical significance weather desired or not, and our final project together, important in ways we never imagined will be greatly elevated by the sensitive and committed engagement of Hauiyu and Chengjin.
