Artist Statement:
Philip-Lorca DiCorcia made me think of photography in a whole new way. His deliberate lighting invites you into another world that seems suspended in time. Similarly, my work focuses on creating orchestrated vignettes that draw out the performative nature of the subject. Using the subjects' own homes, I use carefully considered lighting to create psychologically charged portraits that blend truth and fiction. I'm interested in how we project onto one another and the conclusions we come to while looking at actual, although enhanced, reality.
