Artist Statement:
Buzzing at the Sill is Peter van Agtmael's observation of the U.S. in the shadows of the post-9/11 wars, and I came to realize my book, Keep the Peace, observes this as well. Documenting all angles without holding back seems to be something we have in common, and Buzzing at the Sill pushed me to hold myself to that. Agtmael's portraits speak loudly and inspired me to give my subjects the chance for their portraits to do the same.
